Solid black appearance.
It has a bit of a thick creamy feel to me with light carbonation.
Aroma is malted bread, malt, dark fruit and buckwheat honey.
Taste is mildly sweet,a bit of dry coffee and dark chocolate with some vanilla lingering in the aftertaste.
Overall a really well done beer that I truly enjoyed

Can't determine when the can I was given (Thank you MacMalt!) was canned, but I suppose it's possible, considering the beer has been 'Retired' that it's one he had in his cellar. No worries there, porters should hold their own fairly well.
The pour was near black, so dark it could easily be mistaken for a stout, with a nice light brown head on top.
The smell was vanilla forward, then the malts but I never got any cocoa from the aroma.
The taste followed the aroma in that it was vanilla forward and them a mouth full of malts. An occasional cocoa flavor would waft over my tongue but it was vanilla's show.
The feel was, I thought, pretty spot on for a porter. Viscous enough to hold the ABV it was carrying anyway.
I would happily drink this again, though I'd prefer actually tasting the cocoa if possible. But that may be a taster issue, not one with the beer.

I had this on draught at the brewery. It pours a dark mahogany color - nearly black - with a thin, ecru-colored head that dissipated quickly. The smell includes roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and earth char. It's fairly sweet with tastes of vanilla, milk chocolate, freshly-brewed coffee, and nuts. The flavors are big and bold. The feel is on the thin side with a low level of carbonation. The 7.4% ABV gives it substance. Overall, it has the making of a solid American Porter. I'd like to see more carbonation and a little thicker feel.
