I had this on draught at the Echo Tap & Grille in Mountainside, New Jersey. 16 oz. pour served in a pint glass. It pours a clear, golden-amber with a large, fluffy, milk-white head and lots of lacing that lasted through the pour. The nose was rather subdued at first, with mostly a nondescript malt smell but it developed nicely as the glass warmed with an increasing aroma of lemon peel, grapefruit, and pine needles. The taste opens with lots of lemon and grapefruit but finishes with some Belgian funk, pepper, and a hint of caramel. It has a more complex taste profile than I anticipated. This ale is light and crisp with lively carbonation, and with a moderate 6.2% ABV it is very easy to drink. Overall, I wasn't expecting much from this IPA and I was pleasantly surprised. It has a lot of flavor and it's very easy to drink. This is a local brewer of which I knew little but I'll make it my business to try more of their beer.
