Imperial stout with lactose and molasses. This big roasty beer was then aged in a freshly dumped bourbon barrel with orange zest and cinnamon. This beer is big, strong, and boozy . . . let it warm to room temp for even more complex flavors.

On draught at the brewery. Served in a snulip glass. It pours a deep, dark walnut color with a thin, light khaki-colored head and thin sheen of lacing. It has a very pleasant aroma featuring roasted malt, freshly-brewed coffee, and whiffs of dark chocolate, molasses, and vanilla. You can also smell the bourbon barrel but it's delicate. I nursed it to let it assume room temperature. The taste opens with a lot of bitter char; it's quite earthy. But as I swish it in my mouth I can taste vanilla/cream and notes of cinnamon. As the glass warms the molasses appears and adds balancing sweetness. The flavors compliment each other really nicely. This stout is medium-bodied with low to moderate carbonation. It's a big brew, for sure, and the 11.2% ABV is unmistakable but not distracting. It's perfect for sipping on a cold winter night. Let it sit and develop; you'll be rewarded. Overall, Fireside Massage Train is a well-conceived and crafted big stout that is very tasty and thoroughly enjoyable.
