Smooth and roasty, big round malt flavors, followed by the sweetness of toasted coconut. A refreshing seasonal style served on nitro.

Pint on draught at the brewery. It pours a clear, dark amber color with a half finger of creamy, lite khaki head and abundant thick, clinging lacing. The nose is fragrant and features roasted malt, vanilla, and coconut. This is really good: there is brown bread, vanilla, earthy nuts, and coconut. As it warms in the glass the flavors really open. This ale is soft and plush with low carbonation, and at 6.2% ABV a second pour is no issue. Overall, the first thing I'd say about this Brown Ale is that it's unique. I'm told that the recipe originated with an Irish Red but the color wasn't right so the brewer named it, "Identity Crisis." They brewed it again and raised the ABV and it's now a solid American Brown Ale. Talk about turning a sow's ear into a silk purse! Try this Brown Ale if you can!
