We took our full-bodied stout, brewed with lactose, is roasty with coffee notes and then brought out the big guns. Aged in bourbon barrels just in time for our Third Anniversary … and then served on nitro.

On draught at the brewery. Served on nitro. It's a very attractive pour: oily black with a thick, creamy, light mocha head and thick, elegant lacing. Initially, the smell is subdued - mostly roasted malt and modest but clearly evident bourbon - but it opens up nicely as the Stout warms in the glass. The taste follows the base Stout with roasted malt, burnt coffee, baker's chocolate, and roasty char. the bourbon notes are delicate but flavorful and compliment the other flavors without distraction. It has a great mouthfeel: thick and creamy with lite carbonation. And the 11.2% ABV is warming but not distracting. It's definitely a sipper. Overall, I'm impressed by Two Ton's deft touch in barrel-aging this Stout. I like this variant better than the original.
