The 4th addition to our Evolution DDH IPA series - this mosaic hopped beer starts off with tropical fruit notes and gives way to a pleasant degree of bitterness.

Pours a hazy bright orange with a finger of fairly dense white head.
Lots of grapefruit on the nose, some light pine.
Taste follows, grapefruit, pine, a bit of pepper, ripe tropical fruits in the background.
Medium body, good carb.
Overall a tasty one.

L - Hazy bright orange orange with soapy, white head.

A - Sweet malt, orange and pineapple.

S - Citrus and pineapple with a mildly bitter finish.

F - Full bodied, creamy and moderately carbonated.

It's been a while since I have tried the Citra version. I think I like this one a little better. Very well done.

Very nice, refreshing DDH DIPA (but not as good as Citra Evolution). Hazy, nice soft hop bitterness, soft hard candy, very crushable. A little one dimensional but could drink a lot of them.

Pours a hazy, vibrant orange with a thin finger of soupy, near-white head. Decent lacing.

Grapefruit, white pepper, lemon and pine show most in the nose. There’s some dank, rotting tropical fruit behind.

The taste follows. Grapefruit, lemon, pine. Just a little dankness, melon and tropical fruit complexity beneath that. A touch of biscuity malt. Pine, grapefruit and grass bitterness play off against one another in the finish.

Medium bodied with some peppery carbonation.

Sort of reminds me of what I’ve tried from The Alchemist, and not only because of their “Drink from the Can” recommendation. A nice hybrid of different schools of American IPAs.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 11/23/2018. Pours very hazy deep golden/amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, orange juice, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, guava, berries, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, wheat, biscuit dough, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, orange juice, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, guava, berries, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, wheat, biscuit dough, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, orange juice, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, light pepper/pine, wheat, biscuit dough, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, lightly sticky, and slightly resinous/rindy mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 6.75%. Overall this is an incredible NEIPA. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balanced citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Awesome soft feel for the style. Amazing Mosaic showcase. Extremely juicy, and fairly dank/earthy hops; great wheat/oat/malt balance, mild residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected. Felt smoother/softer than the Citra.
