Glossy black with a soft tan head settling to a flat but bubbly collar.

Dry, splintery and woody, I definitely get apple brandy in this overall very mature, even hot expression.

A - Pours pitch black white a thin tan head. Light soapy lacing.

S - Aroma is plums, vanilla, dark chocolate and heavy bourbon.

T - The taste is apple, plum, vanilla, dark chocolate, oak and a big bourbon finish.

M - Medium body with medium carbonation. Syrupy mouthfeel with a crisp dry finish.

O - Really tasty DBA stout. The apple brandy barrel adds a nice dark fruit sweetness.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like sweet apple brandy, dark fruit, bourbon, vanilla, and milk chocolate.

This is maybe a bit too sweet, as it seems like the apple brandy barrels may have been "wet," There's a lot of sweet apple and dark fruit layed over the milk chocolate and roast from the base. I don't really get a ton of bourbon from the first barreling. There's a touch of vanilla.

This is medium bodied, and gets fairly boozy at it warms up a little bit. It gets tougher to drink at that point.

This is a bit too sweet, and probably the least of the Ellison beers that I've tried. It's still a nice beer, though.
