16 oz can, dated 1/21/21, into THAT! NE IPA snifter.
Hazy medium orange with a finger of head that recedes to a fingernail and leaves no lace.
Aroma is very sweet and brings puff pastry to the front in a huge way. Nearly indistinguishable from a Brewing Projekt sour. Vanilla frosting, buttercreme, doughnuts, lactose, and a faint tail of peach, cinnamon, and more pastry crust.
Flavor brings sugary puff pastry, lactose, vanilla, with a following of sweet and sour peaches, pie crust, and jalapeno (?!). Very weird on the peppery thing. Has a mineral-like Pixie Stix vibe. Sour peach rings and pastry wrap it up. Really went gung-ho on the pie thing. Yet still not as sweet as some other junk I've had. Keeps a fair balance of sour in the mix so it's still drinkable to me.
Feel is wet, crisp, slightly starchy, uneventful, kinda boring. No heat.
Overall, a bit unbalanced and messy, too sweet, and the mouthfeel leaves a lot to be desired. This is actually a lot like the "Fargo" and "Eau Claire"-style ours we get here in South Dakota. When I was checking out, I remember the guy kinda poo-pooing this beer, and he said "the other guys in town do stuff like this better but at least it's just a single, and who knows." I can't disagree. This isn't a terrible beer, but it is kinda shoddy. Too much sugar in a sour is no bueno for me.
Too much like home. Pass.
