Lacking in feel. Light bodied stout. Low abv. Solid roast. Creamy coffee. Not the best coffee stout, but for the abv, this is solid as hell. Maybe just a tad metallic or something. But solid.

Notes: 4.8% ABV coffee stout. Another winner from Departed Soles! I'm not a fan of coffee beers in general, be it a porter, a stout, or whatever, but I can certainly appreciate when a brewery gets the coffee component right, and this tasted to me like it had actual fresh-brewed coffee blended in. It displays an opaque black body beneath a short head of dense tan that holds fairly well and leaves some decent lacing behind. The aroma is roasty with a touch of dark chocolate to it, and that carries over into the flavor, but mainly it's like fresh-brewed, nutty black coffee - the good kind from a solidly done French roast that gives you some edge but retains the integrity of the bean, not that burnt-up shit from Starbucks, or that acrid swill they piss-peddle at Dunkin Donuts. It's firmly bitter without any dark malt acidity or harshness, and it finishes dry with lingering roastiness and just a touch of underlying grassy hops in the background. I'm guessing they did a cold brew and maybe even added beans right into the fermenter or bright/racking tank but what do I know? It's worth trying, that's for sure, and maybe even worth seeking out for fans of coffee brews.
