DATE: November 22, 2024... OCCASION: celebrating two plays in two days and the first snow of the winter with a beer I long hoped to get my hands on--thank you, Best Cellars of Succasunna!... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter.... pours an opaque burnt sienna whose off-white head fizzles to oblivion... as near as I can tell, a bubbleless creation... bright orange, vanilla, mango, and peach combine for an alluring aroma, a creaminess is suggested... its mouthfeel is dry enough to approximate the "brut" tag, but its body exhibits a juice-like robustness, full of strength and life... its 7% ABV is couched well in its presentation... the orange and citrus fruits are winning, pronounced and clean, while the vanilla makes for a great stand-alone ale that downplays its GF chemistry with a powerful orange flavor.... great name, great beer--Departed Soles does it again!
