DATE: September 4, 2023... OCCASION: grilling on a beautiful Labor Day on the patio with a beer I was happy to track down at the Bottle King in Mansfield--yes, thank you!... GLASSWARE: Victory Rare Vos pint... this pours a golden orange glow with a stampede of bubbles that build a white surf breaking into the glass's edge... this one is alive, a feat for gluten-free beers that often flatline.... lemon, pepper, banana, bubblegum, and garden herbs offer a surprisingly diverse aroma... the grains are sweet and aromatic... this behaves more as a white or wheat beer than a golden ale: soft all around, crushable, mildly engaging, effervescent, swift in its descent, but imparting its better flavors on the tongue as it goes.... creamy and lively, as its look suggests.... banana, bubblegum, citrus fruits like orange, lemon and pineapple, toasted oats and cereal grains play nicely as a refreshing, flavorful summer refresher... as the label suggests, this one would work perfectly at the golf course, but the patio is just as appropriate--another success for the folks at Departed Soles....
