DATE: February 24, 2024... OCCASION: a calm Saturday night finds me sampling another Departed Soles offering--yes! GLASSWARE: Firestone Walker stemless wine... pours a murky, sediment-rich orange-yellow glow with head that suds and desists swiftly--a familiar GF experience... intense raspberry and citrus attack with attitude... salty lime, bitters, and light pine offer secondary scents... some flowery esters (hyacinth?) too... buzzing vibrancy accompanies a subtle burn through the mouth... the teeth shake a bit, while the finish flourishes with a lingering intensity... a puckering blast of sourness kisses with citrus and berry, a welcome marriage that breaks into raspberry, cherry, mango, lime, raspberry and flowery notes... this works well, a fun blend of fruits that sips slowly and strongly for its average ABV... a gluten-free beer that slights nothing in taste while rivaling the malt-bearing offerings in its style...
