Poured from 33 cl bottle. Roasty aroma. Pours a dark brown with a good amount of head. Medium to heavy bitter taste. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, with a bitter finish. Overall it is a bitter take on the strong dark Belgian style.

On tap at Lucky Baldwins in Pasadena, CA.
Pours a clear dark copper with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Thin streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, spice, and nutty aromas. Taste is much the same with fruity and nutty flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable but nothing really stands out to me.

On tap at the Tap Room in the Coddingtown Whole Foods in Santa Rosa.
A: Murky brown. Little to no head or lacing.
S: Super light. I let this sit for a while and still could barely smell anything. I got a little sweet malt.
T: Same as the smell, but less pleasant. Brown sugar, a little fruit. But none of it tasted particularly good to me.
M: Light. Low carbonation. Smooth.
O: Nope. I was not a fan. The flavors just didn't do it for me.

A draft offering from all the way across the pond.
A: The Urchon pours almost black, and against light turns deep red.
S: The smell in dominated by the banana and clove scents characteristic of Belgian yeast, with a touch of smoke.
T: Mild notes of the Belgian yeast, caramel, and malt. Not much going on here.
M: A very thin, somewhat oily mouthfeel.
O: Overall a middle of the road beer. I wouldn't refuse one, but I don't think I would buy one again.

On-tap at Beachwood I,
A: Pours a nice dark brown with a light white head with good retention, some lace.
S: Very light, I get a hint of roast and dark fruit.
T: As with the nose, light. There is a bit of maltiness, some earthy hops. Nothing yeasty about it, if given this blind I'd be hard-pressed to think this was Belgian.
M: Medium-bodied, soft on the palate, easy drinking for what's there.
O: This a fairly pedestrian effort. No complexity, not bad tasting, just boring.

A - Brown clear beer that turns red and yellowish in the light. Eggshell colored head leaves sheets on the side.
S - Dark fruit, brown sugar, little bit of yeast. Smell is all very muted.
T - So boring. Someone tell me what is going on here. Tastes like a lot of nothing. Watered down caramel, brown sugar, and some dark fruits. Yawn.
M - Smooth, low carbonation. Medium bodied.
O - Doesn't taste bad, just doesn't taste like much. I'll pass.
