Firstly I'll say that my experience with beers with notably 'kiddy' lables is often not good. This one features a South-Park lite cartoon of a person [?] in a hooded robe, being hung by the neck on a noose whilst holding a drinking horn of beer [?]. The name 'La Corne du bois des Pendus' via Google/Translate = 'The Hanged wood Horn'. Perhaps it Belgian folklore?
L- In daylight it's almost black, to a halogen it's very dark ruby-chestnut. Pours slightly hazy, with a 5mm dark tan head. [ps holds well].
S- Deep toasty notes plus malts.
T- Toasty, roast grains/malts. I don't detect any hint of smoke (just for the record, as at this pungency such can creep in), but it is notably pungent and deep. It's more like a really robust tasting stout or porter, with a decent hoppy tang in the finish.
F- It certainly feels robust, but the 8%ABV is well hidden within that. It's pungent, well off into slow-sipping winter warmer territory.
O- Much better than the lable suggested to me! I'm enjoying it but I wish I could find more facets within the flavour. I served this from the fridge, but if left to warm some I expect the latter might develop and open up.
Bought from BelgiumInABox Antwerp/BE for home delivery to me in London/UK. 330ml bottle BB: 10/2022

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
