Big Bad Wolf is an Imperial IPA that has been fermented in a neutral oak barrel and a Chardonnay barrel then blended together to give the IPA hints of oak.

On tap at the brewery.

A: Clear, beautiful straw gold with nice lacing; obviously West Coast in appearance.

S: Resiny citrus and pine with a moderate malt backbone.

T: More citrusy that piney 'hop-bomb', but fairly balanced with a hit of malt sweetness that keeps the bitterness in check.

MF: It drinks like 9% and balances sweetness and bitterness well.

O: Slightly warm but a lovely beer overall.

flavorful and delicious double ipa here, pretty in its little tulip glass out at the brewery, and a dangerous one, this really took me from zero to loose pretty quickly, and i could have easily gone back for more! its low bitterness, which i think is part of what helps it be so darn drinkable. pale orange in color, not perfectly clear, but not hazy either, with a short white head on top with moderate retention. aroma is like pure oranges, not orange juice, but like an actual orange, sliced up, its awesome, makes me wonder what the hops are. its a little less outwardly juicy in the flavor, probably mostly a product of the dry hopping, not that the flavor isnt delicious, its just a little more balanced with a bit of malt sweetness in here now, and a little less intense fruity hop complexion. awesome freshness but not green to me, oily and full feeling, long lingering, and with a lot of cool hop nuance including notes of orange tic tacs, kumquat, peach juice, and gin botanicals. a really tasty beer overall, but i think i liked the little wolf regular ipa even more! these guys are killing it though across a wide range of styles, really stoked on their beer at the moment.

On tap at brewery. Hazy amber pour, creamy head, curtain lacing. Does not present itself as a 9% beer. Mild aroma and flavor, very citrus, tart and bitter at the finish. Served cold, I think the temperature is muting the true nature of this beer. Very smooth, but sense this would really pop when it warms.

Pours slightly hazy with a long lasting meringue like had... pretty lacing... Pithy citrus and tropical fruity hoppiness... light pale malt sweetness hides the 9%... all punctuated by hints of oak... more balanced than many PNW DIPA's... Tasty and no real flaws.
