a juniper and elderflower funky beer that i really thought i would love, but ended up being underwhelmed by. there really isnt a ton of either one in here, more juniper i suppose, giving it a wintery gin botanical vibe, but the base beer is odd to me, the souring is sharp but its not clean, and there really isnt much brett or anything to it, not sure how its made, but it almost seems like a cheap kettle sour base to me, not a bad thing necessarily, but this is weird, i want it cleaner with these flavors, and the beer doesnt benefit anything from being as strong as it is, the little bit of booziness seems out of place in a beer that is otherwise gentle. there is a light amber color to this, not a ton of head from the tap, and a mellow haze. the kveik yeast is weird to me with the sourness, i have thought that before, its better on its own, and i would like this better i think without the acid i reckon. the elderflower is obvious, makes this springy and even lightly vinous and fresh, good citrusy tang throughout, a little malt sweetness and body too, and some spice, a belgian ester, black pepper, anise, this whole thing is just really strange. to me its a little disjointed and not one of their best. i love juniper and elderflower and i think they go well together, but the rest of the beer is not amazing to me, the fermentation is off, but i appreciate the ambition.

Bottle share. Pours as a pink tinged brew, pink tinged head too. Tartness is evident in the aroma, mostly berries. Taste brings more fruit, yeast and a little bit of pucker. Kind of dry, not overly sweet or sour.
