a really fine brut ipa here, done with gewurztraminer grape juice. i think with what everyone is going for with this style, a champagne-esque brew, the addition of the wine grapes really helps it get there, the flavor of the fruit is awesome in here, not sweet at all, nicely fermented down, but what it adds is indelible. the beer also employs a hop mostly unfamiliar to me, medusa, which gives the beer a neat grassy savory element, not so citrus driven, although the citra and mosaic aspects of this are pretty darn robust as well, its a nice balance of different hop flavors, and its not just aromatic and finishing, its all the way through the entire beer, fresh as can be, and vibrant with uplifting carbonation and springy freshness. there is a white wine thing to the hops too thats real congruent with the grape juice, and the fermentation profile is really clean, nothing forced or stressed about it at all, real dry and clean at the end, and with just a little bitterness that helps it still drink like an ipa. i thought this was awesome, and it would make a cool series to switch up the grape varietal with each release! i hope they do that! i think i am finally coming around on the brut ipa style, and its beers like this that have converted me!
