another fruited and high acid sour from these guys, this time with clementines and pomegranates, and thankfully, some brett as well, nice to have a funky counterpoint to the sharp acidity they cultivate in so many of their beers. usually pomegranate is a funny one in beer for me, sometimes it becomes just a generic red fruitiness, other times its lost to crazy acidity or bolder ingredients like raspberry, but here, you can really appreciate it for what it is, and i really think the oranges highlight it well, rather than compete with it, a thoughtful combination of fruit that you dont see enough of in beer, these guys always seem to be smart with these kind of things. there is some sweetness here, which helps keep the sourness from being too much, but its the brett balancing the acid that i like better, light funk, still young, but a cool belgian sort of rustic wrinkle to this that really is needed, mild as it is, just a bit more complex than most of their others, although i have seen a little more of the brett use in their beer of late, which i am all about. the fruit flavor is great, a nice little bitter element from the orange too, and better carbonation than it looks like it should have in the glass. really cool stuff going on in here right now.
