cool to have a gose as the base for this, salt on salt, neat. this does taste like it says it will too, and is another cool candy sour from these guys, who do them as well as anyone. that said, it seems a little much, like the passion fruit and lime that this is spiked with takes away from the actual taffy part, which is what i wanted to taste the most, i love how summery it is, how bold but natural these flavors are, but i also kind of want it to just be the vanilla taffy and the salt. its not a real pretty beer, close to still in the glass and a duller shade of gold, tarnished looking, just short of lifeless. it smells cool though, tart from the souring but also the passion fruit, fresh and zesty from the lime, and rich and luxurious from the natural vanilla, some grain soup beneath it all too so it stays beery. the flavor is about the same, the lime and passion fruit are great, especially in a gose like this, but they distract from the actual taffy, which ends up just sort of being a generic sweet note in here, the salt seems to highlight the other elements more. ive had lime taffy maybe, but i dont think passion fruit ever, not a real common flavor i dont reckon, so im not quite sure the motivation to put that in here, it tastes good, but its off theme to me. the base gose is solid enough, the sourness isnt too high, the salt makes it nice and dry in the finish, and this is tasty even if its a tad less taffy driven than it could be, i guess. a weird thing to want from a beer, i like it how it is, but more carbonation would improve the experience for sure.
