16oz crowler from brewery. Dark amber, clear, foamy head. Aroma is toasted malts, rye bread. Taste is brown bread, rye . Fairly simple but somehow fitting with the change of seasons.

a rye based brew for the autumn, done with specialty belgian malts and some full character yeast, apparently multiple strains, quite a cohesive and unique seasonal brew that could easily stand in for the classic oktoberfest for something still grain driven but sessionable, and fully seasonally appropriate, i really liked this. deep copper in color, pretty clear, and with a creamy just off white head on top an inch high. it smells earthy and toasted, a little caramelized sweetness, but thats not really there when i drink it, some spiciness from the rye, which is drying, and some estery yeast, maybe belgian and english together, some fruity character but also some breadiness and old worldy vibes, very interesting, but also all really quite subtle and approachable. a little bit of astringency from the ferment to keep the grain feeling lighter, definitely the rye comes through nicely, more belgian to me as it warms, but kind of without specific regional identity overall, its very global, diverse, interesting. autumnal sure, but unique enough to stand out from a very samey crowd this time of year, impressive and different, i wish they canned this and sold it cheap, it would be a regular in my fridge. one of the better clean beers i have had from these guys, full of flavor, distinctive, real good.
