rather basic, but pretty well made, tidy on the ferment if less flavorful than the best of these, but the drinkability is there, and in the face of so many weird, strong, and intensely flavored drinks on their current beer list, this was a welcome sight, one of the rare beer flavored beers from barbarian! mirror clear golden brew with an average white head and explosive carbonation, looks right on for one of the last (hopefully) hot hot days of late summer. the aroma and flavor on this are the same, lightly european dry cereal malt character, faint honey sweetness, a dried floral thing from hops and this yeast together, perhaps fermented a little warmer than others, it doesnt quite have that lagered crispness. the hops are fresh and floral and they ride a bit more body than i expected through the whole drink, nice minerality underneath, still a german essence to this, if slightly americanized overall to me. great carbonation keeps it refreshing, it ends up drier than it starts, and overall i think this is a fine take on the style, not the kind of thing these guys are known and adored for, but i think its a needed respite from all the weird ones on the menu right now. how many barrel aged imperial pistachio and orange stouts are you going to drink anyway?!

Draft at Barbarian. Clear golden pour, filmy white head. Grainy aroma, sweet. Taste is bready, but introduces a weird light metallic flavor. Finishes with not a lot of crispness and minus any lemony notes. Expected better.
