this is amazing stuff, a top barbarian beer of all time for me, among so many great ones. truly original, unexpectedly good as a sour too, tons and tons of flavors happening, a neat approximation of the cocktail, cant wait to drink this one again! spontaneous sour base, aged in bourbon and cherry bitters barrels, and boy do the whiskey and bitters come through in the aroma and flavor of this unsuspecting brassy toned brew. the nose on this is herbal bitterness, sweet red cherry, heavy vanilla and old wet oak, warming sweet whiskey with maple and brown sugar notes, but then also this funky fermentation, high mouthwatering lemony acidity, and a slight battery acid thing that kind of unites the whole thing in a curious but agreeable way, lots of wood, lots of pucker, tons of mature richness too though, and this ends up be sensationally unique. the cherry bitters is what makes it for me, cocktail-esque, very fruit forward, some citrus with the cherry for sure, and so compatible with the bourbon of course. vanilla, walnut, black tea, anise, and leather are also on display, and this ends up rich with some fruity sweetness despite the intensely sour finish, this seems long aged, really nicely blended, and super complex to me, the cherry bitters is so cool in here, and its neat to have all the whiskey character in such a sour brew, it softens some of that and makes this drinkable, even though it remains a small doses thing for me due to overall intensity. great flavors here, would be awesome as a strong ale not a sour too, but i really respect this one. a highlight from our recent visits for sure. tons of great new beers in here lately!

Taster at brewery. Clear golden pour, fine ring of head. Aroma is ginger ale, cherries and orange rind. Taste leads with the ginger ale notes, cherries, orange. Sweet, not very sour.
