truly one of the strangest beers ive ever had, no kidding it smells and tastes just like a root beer float. these guys have been hit or miss on the gimmicky stuff lately, but this one really is what it says it is, no idea how they got this so true to the actual thing, but they did, and its crazy. delicious, sweet, not a real sessionable thing, but awfully impressive approximation in a beer! better on tap at the brewery than it is in the can, we had it in both formats the same day. they must use the soda syrup concentrate from the restaurant gun or something, definitely has the vanilla ice cream vibe, it has to be packed with lactose too. deep golden to brassy color, short lived white head but some big patchy bubbles remain the whole drink, good carbonation, lighter in color than root beer by a considerable margin. the nose is just amazing, root beer for sure, the root beer barrels candy, and with the vanilla and creaminess it definitely hits the float mark, slightly spicy, real sweet, but with some grain too, which keeps it just beery enough, or close to it. the flavor is also root beer first with vanilla ice cream right there too, some oats likely frothing up the feel of this which makes good sense from a recipe standpoint, and some of the deepest flavor notes of good crafted root beer are actually coming through as this warms up a little. its also slightly cheap to me though, over flavored by any measure, and stays on my palate forever, but still, its hard not to appreciate how true this is to the stated mission, really nailed it. probably the best of the ice cream series beers ive had from barbarian, never had a beer anything like this, great execution and just super fun overall. a little goes a long way for me, but not one to miss!

Taster at Barbarian. Clear golden pour, silky thin white head. Aroma is root beer barrel candy. Taste doesn't deviate too much, little vanilla. Candy flavors fade leaving an odd flavor.
