so they have this golden sour base they do a lot of stuff with here that they call spontaneous, but all of the beers are super acidic, aggressively fruited, and drink like kettle sours despite light oak character, really odd, not a great culture i dont think thats fermenting these, seems the bacteria is just running wild and there isnt much nuance, but i guess you dont need that when you do so much other stuff to the beer. this one is grapefruit juice and tequila barrels, its especially acidic but also pretty complex, i like the tequila and grapefruit together, and even though i cant drink a lot of this, its an exciting brew, and i find myself actually appreciating the base beer more than i usually do. probably not quite correct to call this a fruited kettle sour, but it also doesnt seem right calling it wild ale. anyway, its pinkish orange, holds very little head, and has a dull tone to it, beermosa looking. the nose and taste are citrus forward from the grapefruit, less sweet in taste than it smells, there is some pithy and zested bitterness too which is nice. the tequila is relatively strong too which i dig, exotic tasting, vacation vibes, spicy and woody, sour as can be with the grapefruit and the base sour together, notes of aloe lushness, ground pepper, and herbal bitterness. i wish it felt a little lighter and had a little more tidy finish, it lingers and its heavy in the belly, also too acidic for mass consumption, but i think it hits like the cocktail overall, the flavor on the whole is better than the quality of the beer, if that makes sense, not usually the case with these guys, but this could be cleaned up a little and made way better for summer...
