to call this a berliner is extremely generous, but thats what they call it, so whatever. made with fruity pebbles, a smoothie style sour, thats what it tastes like too. it also has frozen yogurt mix, whatever that is, vanilla, a bunch of citrus and cherry puree, and feels overly new school and trend chasing, but this is nothing new for these guys, they were doing this kind of thing before it was cool, but i cant help but get fatigued on this sort of beer. that said, it sure does taste good, thick and kind of nasty as it looks, all pulpy and gelatinous and full of fruit and cereal chunks. the purple color is intense, deep saturation but its hard to call this beautiful. the nose is cool though, fruity pebbles for sure, lime and lots of it, the tang from the cherry and the lactic souring, more vanilla and dairy character than it needs, almost cheesecake, weird and a little gross, but the fruit is bold and appealing and this absolutely does the smoothie thing pretty effectively. the taste is pleasant, i mean, it is what it says it is, fruity pebbles in smoothie form with a bunch of fruit, orange and lemon and lime and cherry are all appreciable, a slight red currant or medicinal red fruit tang, but this isnt particularly sour with all the fruit sugar and vanilla in here. again more of the yogurt factor than i personally find flattering, but i get why its here. the body is the texture of whipping cream, and theres some gritty sediment in it. a little goes a really long way for me, almost more a food item than a beverage at this point, but i respect the effort and the overall execution, its better than most of the rest of the field of these, but im still waiting for the day when this trend dies back a bit...
