rock solid new one from these guys, or new to me anyway, darker in color for a maibock, maybe more just traditional straight up bock to me, but a beautifully executed beer, they make clean beer thats better than they get credit for with all the whacky ones they do taking all the attention. nice reddish raisin sort of amber tone to this, good clarity, tons of carbonation from the tap, an inch of beige creamy thick head that lasts the whole drink, really technically very solid, pretty beer. the aroma is right on, nutty baked richer german malts but lager yeast with a lot of personality too, bready and doughy and enriched, dried red apple, lots of minerals, fig without being too sweet, great balance, trace woodiness, fantastic. dark honey and concentrated german grain in the flavor, love how much yeast character there is in here, and i like the malt depth, fabulous really. subtle almond and leather, raisin, and dark bread, modest middle sweetness but actually relatively quick later, but lots of depth from the malt, like a baby doppelbock or something almost. mid level body, racing carbonation really makes it move, warms up well, more fruity then. excellent take on the style here, as a straight up bock, german authentic and quite masterfully done, loved it and so did my wife! really dialed in!

Draft at Barbarian. Foggy green pour, thin layer of beige foam, streaky lacing. Malty, woody aroma. Taste is mildly sweet, malty, brown bread, woody. Dries out a bit towards the finish.
