Drink fresh - or at least under three years….
Dark brown swaying to black pour with a finger plus of dark tan head.
Nose is malty, peaty, leather and a good hint of campfire smoke (not that meaty smoke Schlenkerla throws you).dark fruit and as warmed toffee and caramel aromas.
Tastes of dark fruit, a bit of berry, but again strong notes of leather, campfire smoke, peat and hints of the oak barrel; soft bitterness.
Medium full mouthfeel with bright carbonation - lingering smoky peaty malt and a boozy kick above the stated 6.5%.

Barrel-aged for 181 days in Laphroaig barrels.
Appearance - Pours a chestnut brown with two fingers of bubbly chestnut head.
Smell - peat and smokiness from the barrel upfront, earthy and leafy hops, cocoa, and bready malts, caramel, and earthy yeast.
Taste - bold peat and smokiness from the barrel upfront. The earthy and leafy hops, cocoa, bready malts, and caramel follow suit. The earthy yeast rounds out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes with a pleasant sweetness with the peat and smokiness from the barrel lingering.
Overall - A superb barrel-aged porter that captures the essence of Laphroaig scotch to a tee. This takes me back to enjoying a glass or two of this very peaty and smoky scotch. A must try for those that like peat and smoky characteristics.
