They say a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, but if you’re talking about our White Raven, you can’t experience it from a distance. To even begin to fathom the hoppy extravagance of this IPA, you’ve got to grasp one for yourself. Enormous hop aromatics of tangerine, passion fruit, mango and pine are married to a complex malt backbone that works to provide both balance and drinkability.

White Raven is hazy, copper colored with nut brown highlights. The head is dense, cream colored, and shows good retention.
Rich, malty notes waft from the glass in the form of caramel, fresh baked bread, and hops in the form of forest fresh wood and pine. Minerally profile gives a good through note. Beneath all of this, hops give a subtle, tropical note smelling to me something like fresh, ripe, mango.
On the tongue, White Raven is full bodied, well rounded, and assertive in nature. First up come flavors of malt, giving me something doughy combined with caramel and a general sort of nuttiness. Hops dominate the center as well as the finish. Center again gives me flavors of tropical fruit combined with more of a malty nature. Finish is assertive in its hoppiness, giving me woody, pine filled American hops.
White Raven is delicious, assertive, and balanced. Apex Predator seems to appreciate the value of assertiveness and balance in its beer. They often give us beer full of character but not so aggressive as to become hard to drink.

This is one of my favourites. It has a great taste - very consistent - and a terrific smell. Very well brewed.

On tap at Whiskey Jack's in Jasper, AB. Pours a blear, deep golden amber with a nice off-white head. Good lacing. Initial impression is sweet malts, fokkowed by citrus and pine resin hops. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation. Finish is slightly sweet. Pretty decent IPA.
