Appearance - Pours a rusty copper with four fingers of dense frothy white head.
Smell - citrus, tropical, and piney hops, citrus peel, grapefruit, hint of pine resin, peach, mango, toffee, raisin, and sweetness from the barrel, bready malts, and earthy yeast.
Taste - citrus, tropical, and piney hops upfront. Then it goes into citrus and grapefruit peel, hint of pine resin, peach, mango, toffee, and raisin from the rum barrel. The bready malts and earthy yeast round out the brew.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the toffee and raisin sweetness from the rum barrel lingering.
Overall - A well crafted Imperial barrel aged DIPA. The alcohol is well hidden and I like how Apex utitlized the rum barrel to create more flavours to the classic DIPA. Worth a go if you stumble across this.

Virtuous series - homage to Princess Bride in a 22 ounce bottle.
Pours a murky amber verging to brownish with finger of khaki head.
Aromas of tropical fruit - pineapple, melon, mango with notes of rum, slightly resinous.
Taste follows with sticky sweet tropical fruit - pineapple, mango - citrus with grapefruit pith, building resinous bitterness, and a touch of pine on a rum soaked base.
Medium full mouthfeel with sticky bittersweetness building and lingering on moderate carbonation, rum barrel character. Decent.
