When you first heard it, you weren't sure what to think. Though it wasn't a new sound, it was to you. Yet as you listened deeper, there was an odd familiarity. You filled up on the catchy words, catchy melodies, toe-tapping beats, and then it just felt comfortable. Keep listening, it's a part of you now. This wheat IPA is generously hopped, but its would-be bitterness is cancelled out with a 50% wheat bill.

Pours misty straw yellow with orange notes. A thin persistant head with some lacing. Aroma: wheaty, bready, musty, some tropical fruit. Flavour dominated by a citrusy hop bitterness, bready sweetness, eheat spice, some alcohol, moderate mouth feel.

Bold brew. Citrus nose, smooth, big hop bite at end. Not sessionable but delicious. Alcohol in background.

Bottle: Poured a hazy/cloudy yellow color ale with a nice large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet wheat malt notes with some light dry floral hops notes. Taste is a mix of floral hops notes with some sweet wheat malt. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Missing some attenuation and balance but still very solid white IPA.

500ml bottle - thanks again to my bud Mark for dragging this one across almost all of Canada, just to up and give it to me!

This beer pours a milky, almost opaque medium yellow colour, with four fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and fizzy off-white head, which leaves some splattered snow rime lace around the glass as it lazily recedes.

It smells mildly of bready and grainy pale malt, a lesser spicy wheatiness, subtle banana and orange fruit notes, a gentle yeastiness, some tame earthy spice, and more plain leafy and weedy green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, wheat crackers, somewhat estery yeast, a mixed citrus, banana, and tropical fruitiness, ethereal ground white peppercorns, and a growing leafy, floral, and piney hoppiness.

The carbonation is quite light in its barely-there frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, as the yeast keeps its damn fool head down, and the hops are more fruity than bitter, so there's that. It finishes off-dry, the fruitiness still running the metaphorical show.

Overall, this is a rather pleasant and easy to drink version of the style, which is typically caught up in all kind of ugly yeasty beasties knocking heads with an acerbic hop character. Not here - the fruit essences dominate, and the hops just ain't all that bitter. Oh, and the 14-proof alcohol measure? Nowhere to be seen!

Serving Type: 500 mL Bottle

A- Pours a hazy Pale Yellow topped by a 1/2 finger white head with decent retention. Leaves behind some decent lacing as it's drunk.

S- Tropical Fruit and a slight hit of candied banana. Definitely a hop bomb.

T- Once again, hop dominance is championed here: Tropical fruit, little bit of pine resin, and again, candied banana making a background appearance.

M- Light-Medium body with very moderate carbonation. Works well with the style.

O- For my first "White IPA", I don't think I could've chosen a finer example. Tons of flavour and substance. Another top-notch beer from Upstreet!
