so we asked the guys about this one, and they informed us that despite the name and its common linkages to coffee, not beer, that this beer in fact has no coffee in it at all, and that the malts were cold pressed for some reason, which they did not explain well. i almost felt like they were messing around with me, like playing me for an idiot, real strange, soaking malt in cold water overnight, what purpose could that serve? it sure doesnt make the beer all that unique, this tastes like a grain heavy stout, but lacks any real defining features, at least to me. there is some deep roast on it, a nice caramel malt center, a vienna type toasted element to it as well, and even a possible rye malt earthiness here, but it just tastes sort of basic to me, a little bitter to finish from the dark grain, too light in body and carbonation though, and while i sort of dig the idea of some new process with the malt, im not sure how much it influences the beer. i have not heard of this before, so if someone knows something about cold pressed malts, hit me up, id love to learn more. without knowing what its supposed to do, it was hard to appreciate this as anything more than a pretty decent american stout...

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
