a citra and simcoe based ipa, cleared and a bit more refined overall than some of their other hoppy beers, but still with a little haze to it in the glass, and like a lot of their stuff, not particularly heady or well carbonated. the beer is real light in color though, and real light body, the grain base is minimal, pale and simple, dry and crackery, a foundation that really lets the hops do the vast majority of character building in this beer. i get the simcoe in front of the citra in nose and taste believe it or not, the classic high alpha northwestern grapefruit and pine bitterness, oily and intense for a second, but softened by the round almost sweet lemony profile of the citra, light white grape and kiwi fruit notes to it as well, a cool spectrum of hop flavor and texture for only using two varietals, they really seem to have gotten the most out of these. bitterness is there in the flavor and ramps up toward the finish, but its also got a very juicy and fresh dry hop quality to it, the best of both worlds. this is well made and tasty, but its also pretty darn familiar, nothing really standout or unique about it, enjoyable as it is. im always looking for some point of distinction, and this beer really doesnt have one...
