Draft pour at Bear’s House in Toulouse, France. (I lucked into the first pull from a freshly tapped keg!)
Arrived with a short tan foam atop deep brown brew.
Nose delivers a strong malt foundation with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and caramel. It’s really roasty.
Taste follows with the roast up front, toffee, hazelnut, dark plummy fruit. The 8% ABV is right in the pocket of expectation.
Mouth is full and smooth, coats the tongue. Medium carbonation that mellows as the beer warms.
Overall, a respectably robust effort and good representation of the style. Perfect for a September autumn evening in Europe.
