Bought this 0.33l bottle at Liebick near München and quaffed it in Bamberg on 26SEP15. From what I understand, though it is called a tripel, it is a German take on an amped-up weizenbock with some belgian twists thrown in, brewed per the Reinheitsgebot with no additives. Made with 50% wheat, 50% barley malt and Saphir hops.
It was a fairly bright medium golden color with a touch of haze. Had some slow, scatterd cazrbo and a thin, wispy, off-white head and light lacing. Smelled a bit of mango, pear and green apple. Had a medium body with only light prickle on the tongue.
Tasted somewhat fruity, like the aroma. Picked up some banana here with more pear and green apple and a bit of grape skins. Wheat was evident in the crisp, dry finish. A different, yet solid, offering. Prosit!
