This amber colored bitter produced for the Tesco supermarket chain reveals golden highlights beneath it's creamy white head. The head retention is excellent, and it maintains a solid cap and leaves some very nice lace throughout most of the pint. The nose reveals a bit of caramel-touched malt amidst its yeastiness (a touch of sulphur, some limited fruit, subtle diacetyl), and a mild hint of grassy and floral hops in the background. The body is medium, and its fine bubbled, moderate carbonation leaves it lightly crisp and then smooth across the palate (but not quite creamy). The flavor is neither as full flavored or malty as the aroma suggests, but it's slight hint of butter lends a rounding edge to the subtle caramelish notes that are there. The bitterness is well balanced, and it finishes clean and dry. A very basic, average bitter.
