Copenhagen 9/10 2017. 50 cl bottle from Lidl masquerading as Hatherwood Craft Beer Company. A crudely drawn Adder on the label.
Pours clear dark amber with off-white head. Settles as patchy thin layer of foam. No lacing.
Aroma is quite strong. Fruity with blueberries and currant and something sweeter and slightly sugary in the background.
Strong carbonation and watery palate.
Flavor is prominently sweet but with an ok balance due to a medium bitterness. Aftertaste is burnt caramel with bitter notes.
Very fine Amber Ale - makes me wish that Lidl would try to convince the world that they are a Craft Brewery more often (I can understand that they had some help in their endeavors).

Purchased from Lidl in can, chilled and poured into a pint glass. Surprisingly good for supermarket ale. It pours with a nice rich reddish brown color and reasonable, satisfactory 'beery' aroma, sufficient mouth feel and very good flavor. Actually the claimed flavor is pretty accurate. The malt does give a toffee flavour, a slight sweetness with a dry finish and an discernable hint of fruit. A very satisfying drink and I will buy it regularly. This is one of best of the Hatherwood line and for around £1 a pint how could I go wrong?
