Pours a hazy orange colour with a fluffy white head, the aroma is hoppy with plenty of fruit, the taste is medium bitterness and with a dry bitter finish

Pours clears golden amber with nice head that dissipates soon, leaving a thin, but long-lasting layer, scarce patchy lacing. Aroma is earthy floral and citrusy hops, some malt in the back. Taste is bittery floral hops and some light citrusy malt with dry finish and increasingly bittery aftertaste.

Light/moderate mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Overall, not a bad IPA, but I am not sure if I would drink another.

* Finally somebody has traced the origin of this bottled ale, so here comes my note of late 2005.

Coming in a brown bottle, BB Feb. 06; served cool in a straight imperial pint glass.
A: dark orange to dark amber colour, with an extremely fast-disappearing head (which is not impressive at all for a bottled beer~~) and medium-level carbonation.
S: deeply sweetish grainy on top of fruity hoppy nose, reminiscent of rock sugar, peachy malty and very soft lemon-mousse hoppy aromas.
T: refreshing yet rich grainy and buttery biscuity flavour on palate, with chewy malts and understated bitterness provided by soft, floral hops at the back, supporting a vertical, slightly unbalanced but pleasant structure of powerful malts and softly aromatic hops.
M&D: the overall mouthfeel is smooth but not without a tangy, hoppy kick, but the flavour is slightly too simple for an IPA at 5.5%; this is a pleasant drink in itself, though one pint is enough for me.

Appearance: golden, great clarity, thinnish layer of cream-white froth, OK head retention

Aroma: caramelly malt, herbally hops, hint of strawberry

Flavor: balanced malt backbone with a quite firm (for an English IPA) to counterpoint; greenish hop flavor and a touch of honey; finishes semi-dry with a long-lingering malt & hop bitter aftertaste

Mouthfeel: medium body, lively carbonation, crisp texture

Other comments: This approaches the more pungent American IPAs, which are much closer to the original incarnation of this style. Good stuff.

My wife brought this home for me on one of her trips to M&S, not a shop I frequent. Having experienced their beers before I have found them to be very unpredictable; some great, others awful.

This light amber beer poured into a straight glass to produce minimal head that very quickly disintegrated into nothing. Not a good start, looked too much like a lager for my liking.

The nose is dominated by hops and there is a faint hint of orange and lemon peel. A very clean, refreshing smell almost reminded me of freshly cut grass, a very natural smelling beer.

The hoppiness dominant in the nose continued onto the taste. This again was met with an aftertaste of citrus fruits, but these were very slight. Quite acceptable on the mouth, a good consistency for a lighter coloured beer, not as wattery as I expected.

I personally found the beer very drinkable and would happily have it again. However at 5.5% this is starting to go beyond my limits for all night beer. Ideal on a hot summers day, would go especially well with a BBQ.
