'What did you think' this template asks. I think it quite shocking that Marston's brew what quite clearly appears to me a knock-off of St. Austell's Proper Job IPA - 'A Proper Hoppy IPA' indeed! Someone should do a side-by-side of the two beers... That aside, onwards:

L- Quite dark gold, clear, good rising CO2 into a 2cm white foam head. Holds really well!
S- Piquant bright, contemporary.
T- Boldly hoppy as one might expect from a Proper knock-off. Though there is something quite harshly bitter on the palate about it that lingers well after the finish.
F- Quite full-on, punchy hops but the very finish is a weak-point.
O- I've love to know what Marston's have subbed in here, hop extract vs hops, some non-malt carbs? No idea. Perhaps passable if you've already had a few or generally aren't too fussed...
£1.49/500ml bottle from Aldi, currently 25% less than Proper Job from Tesco. BB 31/05/2026
