500ml Bottle and the ABV is 4.1 %.Aroma is fruity (grapefruit and lemon) and rich. Pours a white head over a pale amber body. Tastes is much along the same lines as the aroma with a degree of malty biscuitness.

500ml bottle from Morrisons supermarket, Glasgow (£0.95):
This one was a bit of a let down if I'm totally honest, the nose wasn't all that bad but the taste proved to be fairly standard and the 'New World' taste and blend of hops mentioned on the bottle never really materialised. Sure the beer was drinkable but it was far too similar to most other Burton-on-Trent brewed beers that you can easily pick up in a UK supermarket.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of May 2015. ABV is stated as 4.1%. Purchased a little while back from a B&M store. The label describes it as an unpasteurised pale ale brewed with Australian hops.

A: Poured into a tulip pint glass. A bright, hazy golden-amber hue with medium carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Some lacing.

S: Aroma of vibrant fruity hops with hints of mango, passionfruit, tropical fruits, white grape, mild melon, light citrus, grass, subtle caramel malt and ale yeast. Superb.

T: Tastes of fruity aromatic hops with a lingering bitter finish. Notes of mango, tropical fruit, white grape, subtle grapefruit, citrus, grass, grainy malt, ale yeast and faint stewed hops. Slightly sweet, followed by a restrained, hoppy bitterness.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with pleasant carbonation and decent body. Slightly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of fruity aromatic hops, subdued bitterness, ale yeast and faint malt.

O: Excellent - possibly the best Marston's brew I've had. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour are sublime; lashings of tropical fruit and citrus notes underpinned by subtle malt and yeast esters. Good body. Wonderfully balanced and drinkable - goes down a treat. I could quite happily sink a few of these on a warm day. Well worth sampling if you come across it.

Served cool from 500ml bottle, best before date December 2015, so fresh.

This is a new beer at Morrisons supermarket, special price of 95p, so even if it is garbage, I won't complain.

A) Pale side of medium amber, steadily rising bubbles, thin white head. Groundhog day.

S) This is where it gets interesting. Smells like a cross between basil (the herb) and ganga (the Herb). Let's say, dominated by hops. Certainly unique for a UK 'supermarket' beer.

T) Follows the nose closely. Deepish flavour of basil / pesto. Will look up the website to see what hop variety this is, it has got me interested - Galaxy and Topaz are listed on the website. Ends up with a back-taste of typical wheaty English bitter.

M) Nothing out of place, I can't call it refreshing because the basil aftertaste lingers on and on.

O) For 95p, I have got to say I am happy, this has introduced me to new hop flavours which I will try to look into a bit more. Bravo Marstons for trying something different and putting it out for a bargain price.

Bottle from a mixed case, poured into a regular pint glass.
Out of the bottle it smelt very ... strange, almost chemical. Best before date was mid-2015 so it's not as if it was out of date. Poured well enough, golden yellow with a moderate head and carbonation, but whilst I'm a fan of all things bitter, this was astringent to the point of being almost undrinkable - finishing it was a struggle.

Not sure if I had a 'bad' bottle, but on the strength of this it's not something I'd go out of my way to try again.

Bottled and possibly bottle conditioned due to the better than average for Marston's body
There is a muted tropical fruit aroma
But it comes across quite well in the flavour

According to the brewery: A marriage of the fragrant flower of Australia with the pedigree of England, the perfect union of English class and style with the free spirit of a New World. A handsome ale with a crisp, refreshing, flavour, producing a thoroughbred pale ale.

Was my beer like that?

Hand-pulled pint in 'The Malt House' Birmingham, I was on the balcony where Bill Clinton had a pint during the G8 Summit in May 1998. I was there on 30 Aug 2013 though.

There was a mini haze to my dull golden pint, a thin white head which gave off some lacing sat on top.

Semi-sweet lead in with a bittering finish: nice blend of flavours. The nose was floral and slightly malted, as was the taste. The hoppy finish had some citrus notes within it's bitterness and all round this was a good refreshing pint.
