Quite robust and bold, with roasty and burnt flavors up front and primary. Touches of coffee and chocolate accent nicely. The look and smell are typically porter. Overall the robustness stands out and makes this a really nice brew

A Microbrewery Club offering. Pours a dark brown color with a minimal tan head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of black coffee and roasted malts. Taste is sweet coffee and caramel.

From a can from a beer club. Dark brown with lots of clingy lacing. On the front end, you get the dark cherry and dark chocolate but not overwhelming. The roasty porter flavor lingers.

Appearance: Its body is effectively black in appearance. Inch of airy, beige-colored foam with light lacing.

Smell: Soot-Fruit. A sizable raspberry/plum fruitiness upfront on the nose with lightly smoky roasted malt, ashen barley and bitterish chocolate.

Taste: Roasty with, again, that smoked dark fruitiness. Earthy, bitterish chocolate note with a little hint of creosote. Spoonful of scorched cream, a little, light booze action. Roasty, lightly ashy, lightly fruitiness finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. A low level creaminess felt.

Overall: A little rough around the edges.

Overall a pretty good porter, but just a tad thin.

Had it from tap in a shaker pint glass. Nice dark brown color. Decent head and good lacing. Good chocolate/coffee smell and taste, more dark chocolate than coffee, which is how I prefer it. Hint of dark berries, nice toastiness. Odd beer to see offered this time of year.
