First off, it was a good try.
There’s several things going wrong with this beer.
Look: hazy dark copper/burnt orange. The hazy is a ding, a lagered Marzen should be clear.
Smell: The smell is probably the best thing about this beer.
Taste: This is where things really go sideways, an Oktoberfest beer is a showcase of the malts but this beer is way too hoppy. I may be wrong but it tastes like they used some cascade or some other piney ipa type hop in this. If not for the excessive ibu this would probably have been a very good rendition of a Marzen style beer.
The abv is spot on. Like I said, good try and it’s definitely drinkable, just not a good example of the style.
Brewers of Texas Leaguer brewing, cut down on the hops in your Mr. Oktoberfest, it’ll be mucho better.
