Can: Poured a black color ale with a large brown foamy head with some retention and light lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with some black chocolate notes with light peppery rye notes and some dry hoppy notes. Taste is also a mix of bitter roasted malt with some black chocolate notes, light rye peppery notes with some dry hoppy notes. Body is slightly below average with good carbonation. Interesting but too much chocolate malt for style..

473 ml can served cold into a beer mug. LCBO purchase for under $4 CDN. No Canning date visible.
Appearance - Dark chesnut brown from the can, near black in the glass. Two fingers of rocky tan head are poured and it is whittled down to less than a half finger in a couple of minutes. No lacing to speaking of.
Smell - Big roasty notes, a little coffee and chocolate too with a slight spiciness.
Taste - Assertively roasty, fairly bitter and astringent. Some coffee and roasted malts a touch of dark chocolate. Also some pine and then the rye grain kicks in adding a slightly spicy dimension to an already solid Black IPA. Slight smoke element in there too.
Mouthfeel - Fairly full bodied, well carbonated, semi-dry finish and a pleasure to drink.
Overall - Very good execution on this Rye Pale Ale. With Cameron's Classic RPA (I really hope that comes back again) probably one of the best Rye Ale's out there (there's no many). Would love to see this be a staple for Bobcaygeon or at least a regular seasonal. Very worthy of sampling.
