On tap in a pint glass at a local joint.
Nice looking pour- golden brownish streaked, like soaked wood chips. White cap with lacing, see-through, bold.
I smell the oak easily. While it doesn't mute the other aromas, hops and malts are background, at best.
Taste follows the nose. The dried wood is evident but it does nothing to enhance the flavor. Standing apart, the pale caramel malt and faint citrus hop flavors have potential.
Medium body and not too strong at 7.2% abv. Some hop bitterness, any sweetness is absorbed by oak.
I could see improvement in later batches as the barrels develop some character. For now, it'll be a while before revisiting.
