Had Surpéne in June 2017 on the island of Gotland, Sweden, poured from a 330-ml. bottle, label stamped Bäst före: "20-02-2018" and "Drink fresh!," into a small hand-blown tulip glass.

Pours hazy lemon-gold with a short-lived, bubbly head that leaves little lace. Aroma is sharp and vegetal fruit. On drinking, this "Rhubarb Sour IPA" is not particularly sour, nor is it particularly bitter, but it strikes a nice balance between the two, with tart fruit leading into a mildly bitter, drying finish.

Tart but not sour. Refreshing and balanced fruity but not too bitter. I love this style of beer, the sour ipas are a good choice for the hot summer days. I like this beer

Hazy orange color with white head. Aroma is really fruity and lactic, like a really sour fruit yogurt. Taste starts more balanced than expected. Lactic tartness, lots of rhubarb, quite hoppy as well but the bitterness is moderate, just balances the beer. Light to medium body with medium to high effervescence. I really like the sour/IPA combination and this one is a really good example. Lactic tartness, fruits, hops, you get them all in a tight package.
