both the ipa and the double ipa here are just okay. this one to me had on overbearing flavor of confectioners sugar in it, all the way though, which was distracting to an otherwise tasty hop profile. served in a globe, this clear radiant deep golden brew holds its inch of white head and leaves some patchy lacing on the edges of the glass. it smells and tastes like a combination of a number of different varietals of hops, with plenty of citrus in the nose, but more of a tropical fruit complexion in the taste. the sweetness in here is weird, more generic like dextrose than like grain sugar, which i dont all the way understand in a beer at this abv. it still has plenty of body, so the dextrose theory isnt a great one. its just oddly sweet, like fruit juice in some ways, and i think ultimately it would be a better beer if some of that was allowed (or encouraged) to ferment out a little further. good carbonation though and i do like the bigger body. i can excuse an average ipa after how good their other beers are here, but i would love to see this one get dialed in a little more.
