L- MASSIVE head. Rested, chilled and poured carefully but just 1Cm beer poured explodes into a pint glass almost completely filling it with pale-tan froth. Rather concerning - I don't recall ever seeing a pour quite THAT lively! Poured in some more beer, v-v carefully, now the pillowy head it standing at least 3Cm clear above the top of the glass. Then same happens again twice more. After 5+ minutes I've poured the whole 330ml into a pint glass. Unsurprisingly the beer is now somewhat hazy, and very deep chestnut brown with flashes of deep ruby red.
S- Some wafts reminiscent of crystallised fruits.
T- [Drum roll, for me]. It's quite pungent, deep, intense, roasty, stewed fruits into coffee notes.
F- Deep, pungent, but has the body to carry it off. It feels like more than 6.0% to me, it feels closer to say an 8% Belgian Tripel in it's pungency.
O- I bought it despite it's youthful label, fearing it would be hipster over-hopped nonsense at worst. Then the pour/head was quite wild, thoughts of 'Oh gawd, is it simply off?' But the real surprise is it comes over as a very pleasant beer, much closer to a deep/heavy profile than anything 'hipster'. That said the brewery might consider changing it's name - 'Bunk!' I mean really - and lable design, as it's highly unsophisticated vs the contents of the bottle. I'd happily buy this again, but not if I had to pay full-price.
330ml bottle. Bought from Harvey Nichols, London SW1. Has a 'youthful' design on the lable, but it was reduced from £3.50 to £1.50 so I thought it was worth a punt.

Appealing aroma, with chocolate and coffee notes coming through in taste too. Rich malt base lifted by zesty hops. Well balanced with depth of flavour and surprising drinkability for the ABV.
