Blind-tasted, excl. brewery/name/style/ABV%. So I'm aware this is a 'Turmeric Imperial Stout' -> death or glory awaits?
L- Properly black. Had to raise pour to encourage head formation, quite dark tan, though it was short-lived.
S- I smell alcohol and I get mild ginger. Turmeric being a member of the ginger family that makes sense.
T- Very earthy, into a twist of ginger, then a very hoppy-dry and slightly sour note builds into the finish.
F- It feels like it might be in the 4.5 - 5% range; that results from 1) the intense flavour 2) the pungent hops + bright ginger. I just about sense some of the malty viscosity typical of a higher ABV% beer...
O- I've had some eccentric beers before and this joins that sub-group. Frankly it's 'something entirely different' or 'plain weird' according to personal taste. Interesting to try but I wouldn't buy it again.
Bought from Trembling Madness, York 330ml bottle £5 BB Dec-2024. Ingredients list includes 3 grains + ...'sugar' .... really!

Cask Conditioned and hand pulled by myself at the Seventh Independent Salford Beer Festival, the first time it has been run since 2019
Pours a handsome dark beer with roasty notes and the turmeric lending well to the balance of the ale
