Sinpalsken Donker
I got this beer from @BelgianHappiness a few days ago.
Best before July 14 - 2016.
Abv: 8.5%
Dark brown with a little copper tone. Hazy. A large beige head. Just a little lacing.
Nose: Dried fruit, sweet plum, a little tart, red berries, apple, malt and syrup.
Taste: Caramel malt, banana, vinous taste, currant, sour grapes, citrus, red berries, wood and burned sugar.
Body: Medium body. Light carbonation. Dry finish.
Great beer!

I picked this one up from a local beer shop, curious to down another more unusual Belgian.
It poured as a hazy dark tan, with a light brown head that dissipated fairly quckly into a thin sheet on the surface.
Had a good sniff, and WOW! This beer instantly brought to mind the legendary Westvleteren 12. Ports, malts and dark fruits fill my senses, and the taste is similar, with added cola, spices, brown sugar and strong but not overwhelming alcohol. A hint of sourness finishes it off.
As the beer warms, the aroma mellows somewhat.
I'm truly amazed by this beer - after having drank so many Belgians in my time, this is the only one I've found that approaches the style of Westvleteren. It's different enough to not be a clone, but is so satisfyingly similar in style.
Wonderful!

Sinspalsken Donker pours in with a big yellowbrown head that stays forever. Color is brown but holding it into the light it shows a beautiffull& clear Bordeauxred color. Smell is less impressive with Malts and DMS. Further spice from yeast and with a lot of effort I think I could detect some hops. Taste is sweet and malty. Further litle port and oxidation dispite of the label that says good till 22-1-06. Mouthfeel then is cause of the enormous amount of carbon dioxide fresher again. Drinkable but not my taste.
