Collaboration with 26 Degree Brewing
This collaboration with our dear friends at 26 Degrees is a wild amber ale brewed with a hefty amounts of rye and a touch of caramel malts. Aging for 10 months in a heavy-toasted French oak puncheon that previously held red wine from the Napa Valley, gives this beer prominent oak character. Aromas of caramelized tropical fruit and toasted malt lead to flavors of spicy rye and vanilla with a tart, red wine finish.

750 mL bottle. Pours amber with an ample white head. Smells a little metallic up front. Some oak and red wine. After some swirling and warming, you get some caramel and rye. Tastes pretty tart up front. Earthy, oaky, and toasty. Red wine in the back end. Light rye in the back end. A little fruity in the finish. Well carbonated. The metallic aroma does the rest of the beer no justice, as I think it's a pretty good beer.

This one pours a slightly murky amber color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like dark fruit, toasted malt, oak, earthy funk, red wine, and slight vinegar.
Sour ambers are always gonna be a little weird, but this works pretty well for me. The base amber ale has a nice toasty malt backbone, that goes well with the red wine and acidic notes from the barrel aging. There's some oak and a bit of spice, too.
This one has a slight lingering acidity on the back end of the beer, along with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. It's definitely a bit of a slower sipper.
This type of thing is never going to be my favorite style, but I was confident that Odd Breed would definitely nail it.
