Our Oud Bruin pays homage to the traditional Flanders brown ales of Belgium. We brewed this big sour brown ale with imported Pilsner malt alongside toasted and lightly roasted malts. 15 months of aging in Pinot Noir barrels lends complexity and balance to this wine-like beer, and this version of our Oud Bruin is served still. Notes of cacao nibs and lightly roasted coffee are at the front of the palate, transitioning to fruity plums and figs. Firm acidity countered by full bodied sweetness and notes of balsamic red wine round out the profile of this unique beer.

500 mL bottle. Corked and waxed, no cap. Flat and brown. Smells of oak, sour red wine, balsamic vinegar, light char. Tastes of vinous red wine and oak. Toasted malt. Sourness builds into a balsamic sour spike. Flat. Medium body, but pretty sour. When it's cold, it's all sourness. As it warms, it improves significantly. Less sour, more oaky. But in the end, the malt profile gets lost.
